2005, New York – Manhattan
It was a nice late Saturday afternoon, and a seven year old Alec was coloring a drawing on top of the kitchen table while his mother, Alissa, prepared their dinner. The tv was on and it was playing a cartoon about a superhero who had telekinesis and was fighting a villain.
Alissa was humming lowly to a song on her head when suddenly her son called:
– Mom, mom, look! Things are flying! – he said, pointing at the pencils in the air.
When she turned around, she saw not only the pencils, but the microwave and some plates were levitating as well. She couldn’t help the smile that lit up her face before she walked over her son and put both hands on his shoulders.
– You’re just like mommy, sweetheart. – she hugged him tightly – You are special just like me.
Alissa Owens was a powerful mutant, a class 5 to be more specific, she could copy someone’s mutation just by touching them; Alissa once was a member of the X-men but that was before her son was born. And that’s why after celebrating with Alec, and serving his dinner, she called her longtime friend Charles Xavier and told him the news, that her son’s mutation showed up at a rather early age but she couldn’t help to be more proud. She even asked if she could enroll him to Xavier’s school already, to which Charles replied that she should think more about it, but Alec would be welcome anytime.
Later that night, after putting Alec to sleep, she needed to have a serious conversation with his dad. Alissa wasn’t embarrassed to say that Alec was the result of a one night stand, he was the best thing that ever happened on her life, she was embarrassed that Tony Stark didn’t think like that. She wasn’t complaining about him not being the best father ever, he would at least show up at Alec’s birthday and some holidays, and he pays for everything so that’s was good enough for her. Although she could tell that Tony loved his son, it was noticeable that Tony loved money much more.
But Alissa knew this moment would come, three years ago she had already told Tony about her being a mutant and right after threatened him to not tell anyone, the woman also explained that there were a chance of their son be born a mutant, so they were just waiting for it to happen.
She had to call Tony three times before he answered, sounding annoyed, although she could hear the loud music playing.
– Alissa? What do you want?
– It’s important, Anthony, – she knew he hated to be called that – it’s about Alec. – Alissa could hear the music getting more distant and quiet.
– What did he do? Is it about school? I was going to deal with that. – he sighed.
– What? What happened at school? – she asked confused.
– Um… nothing really, the headmaster was clearly overreacting. – no, he wasn’t, one of the teachers found a pack of cigarettes on Alec’s backpack on the day Tony dropped him off – So, what happened? is he sick? – Alissa only sighed before answering:
– Remember when I told you Alec could be a mutant? – Tony said “yeah” so she continued, smiling a little – Well, his powers manifested and we will need to put him in another school.
– Why would he need to change schools? Is it because you don’t think he can live with normal kids? Y’know that’s fucked up to say as a mutant, Alissa, our son is completely able to live a normal life-
– Tony, what the hell are you saying? – she rubbed her eyes with her fingers – Just shut up for a second. I wanna put him on a school for kids like him, so he can learn how to control his powers and not accidentally drop a chair into someone’s head.
– Oh.. so, I think I might be too drunk for this conversation, let’s chat tomorrow, ok? Toodles. – and he just hung up.
Sometimes, Alissa felt the need to kill Tony Stark, but that would make her son sad so that’s the only reason she has not to.

2006, New York – Westchester Country
A year later, and eight year old Alec still hasn’t made any friends at the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. In his head it was ok since he thought it was because of his age, being younger than most people there they surely wouldn’t want to play with him. In reality, the students had some prejudice about his powers, Alec could copy someone’s powers but unlike his mother he didn’t need to touch the person, he could do it just by look at them; but the younger students – the ones almost his age – saw that as “stealing their powers” since they wouldn’t be the only ones to have it, and the teenagers didn’t really care about it. That’s why Alec spends most of his time with Charles Xavier or Ororo, sometimes with Jean Grey as well, that’s until he met Logan Howlett.
Some kids didn’t like Logan when he started teaching at the school, Alec would hear that “he’s so serious, it’s scary”, but the young boy didn’t think like that. He was their history teacher and the only who wouldn’t make Alec bored in five minutes of class; because of that, the little boy would stay after class was over just to ask Logan more about what he lived. You can call it daddy issues but as they grew closer to each other, little Alec started to see Logan as a father figure since his own didn’t really care about him. Two years later, it was rare to see Logan without Alec, which became a funny scene for everyone at school, seeing the Wolverine sometimes carrying the boy on his shoulders just because he asked while he went on about something Logan clearly didn’t know but pretended to understand.
One day, little Alec copied Charles powers but it was too much for him, so he ran desperately to get Logan’s help since Xavier wasn’t at school that day. When he found Logan he was crying a lot, with his hands pressed on his ears in a failed attempt to quiet the voices in his head. The man managed to calm him down but the boy was still scared to sleep alone, so Logan stayed at his room until he fell asleep.
After those three years studying at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, it became obvious to all the teachers that Alec was a very intelligent child; he almost didn’t pay attention to class – unless it was history or math – and still managed to do good in all exams, he could control his powers and understand how they worked better than the teenagers. That’s why Xavier decided to put him in a more advanced class and after that, when Alec was fourteen, he told Logan and Ororo to start training him to be an X-men; obviously with Alissa’s consent and the boy’s as well.
He became one of the strongest mutants the X-men has ever seen, since he had all of their powers; something that Charles actually encouraged him to do, showing pictures and talking about old teachers, students and formers X-mens with powerful abilities. He got Logan’s metal claws and superhuman senses and reflexes and healing factor, Xavier’s telepathy, Ororo’s abilities to control weather, Kurt’s teleportation, Danielle Moonstar’s ability to create illusions and manifest people’s fears and deepest desires, Gambit’s ability to convert potencial energy in an object into kinetic energy (basically making things explode) and the shield that blocks his mind from other telepaths, Magneto’s magnetism manipulation, and Jean’s empathy and psychic energy synthesis.
He could also manipulate and generate water or ice, fire, wind and earth and so many more because of some students powers. All that because Xavier got carried away with the idea of “owning” such a powerful mutant, and Alec just wanted to make him proud so he just kept going. Logan and Alissa were worried about the boy, how much longer his body could take so many strong powers like that?
Not too much, because one day after about seven months gathering all of that powers, Alec was training with Ororo and he simply fainted and didn’t wake up. The woman called Logan and they carried him to the nursery where Jean began treating him, he didn’t wake up for hours and after a day they realized the boy was in a coma. Logan got pissed at Charlie and if it wasn’t for Jean he’d have beaten up him – and so what he was in a wheelchair? -, Alissa had a similar reaction but not even Jean was able to save Xavier from the unbearable headache that she gave him for a month.
During the three weeks that Alec was in a coma, all the mutations he had copied began to manifest on his body, like, his skin got frozen or burnt on some days and sometimes his skin would turn blue. On the day he woke up, he was only left with white hair streaks and animalistic fangs – that were probably from Kurt and Ororo. However, that didn’t stop him from wanting to be an X-men, he still practiced and trained with his powers – a little more controlled this time – and he actually worked as one for four years before he graduated.
When he left the school, the X-men gifted him with a necklace that could project a picture of them together, it was taken during Christmas and they were all playing in the snow with the younger kids when Ororo came out of the mansion with a camera on her hands saying that they needed a picture with the newest X-men. Needless to say, Alec cried a lot that day saying goodbye for everyone, Logan was the hardest to, but the he had promised to visit the boy whenever he could.
2015, still New York – Manhattan
Alec was now seventeen and Tony became the Iron Man after he got kidnapped some years ago, which changed his vision of the world, and apparently made him want to act like a father, so he (unnecessarily since Alec got his genius genes) pulled some strings to enroll his son to NYU for engineering (he tried MIT but Alissa didn’t allow it because it was too far and she would miss her son) and he made his son live with him since “it was nearer to college”. Trying to get closer with his son, Stark used his knowledge on engineering and mechanics to teach him some things, and they managed to bond through their brains.
Tony also became one of the avengers which meant that sometimes Alec bumps into them around the house. The boy was introduced to them at the party to celebrate their victory against HYDRA, where Alec was able to meet Thor, the god of thunder that could be found in any of his Nordic mythology books. The temptation to try and copy the gods powers was too much but he remembered Charles saying that his body wouldn’t be able to take it since it was on its limit. Nonetheless, it was enough for him to just talk with Thor and listen to his histories – that of course he knew all about it.
At the end of the night only the close ones were left and they did a silly competition to see who could lift Thor hammer and Alec was encouraged to try it. He couldn’t lift it but Thor saw it moving a bit and his smile died down like when Steve did the same thing.
Alec wasn’t really friends with the avengers but he could tell they didn’t dislike him, Natasha and Steve just seemed surprised that Alec was in fact Tony Stark’s kid, the boy was way more polite then his dad and way friendlier too, aside from the black hair, the smartness and the occasional sarcasm, they don’t look alike at all.
On that very night Tony’s and Bruce’s secret weapon was exposed to everyone and Alec couldn’t help but think as to why someone so smart did something so dumb like that. Alec’s powers were also exposed as he destroyed some of them using his telekinesis, although no one really thought much of it since there was a much bigger problem to deal with.
